The EGRS system can translate into an estimated $100,000 a day in additional income for larger gold refiners. The large refiners’ cost per ounce of fine gold (refined) is $1.25 to $2.00/oz. The EGRS System can lower this cost to an estimated $.29/oz. (1/5 the cost).
In most cases, the elimination of toxic waste and toxic fumes from a chemical process adds cost. The large-scale gold refining industry is a highly competitive business that operates on a very small profit margin. So, to accomplish our goals of producing a totally green gold refining system we had the added challenge of making our solution less costly to run than existing systems. We had to recover a higher percentage of precious metals and transform the base metals that are normally recovered as toxic waste into a saleable product – all while using 90% less chemicals, 90% less manpower, and automating all stages of the process.
The EGRS system recovers 99.99% of the gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The base metals are recovered as copper oxychloride which is a saleable product.
EGRS’ automated process is a breakthrough that will forever modernize gold refining. Until now, chemicals that are used throughout the industry worldwide have prevented use of the metal components which are required for the EGRS system, including its necessary SCADA sensors, valves, pumps, tanks, piping & filtering equipment.
The EGRS chemistry allows us to automate our system using SCADA technology which monitors all phases of our system to ensure 99.99 % recovery of all precious metals and accountability in all stages. In some cases, refiners will no longer be required to register with the EPA because they will not be a generator of hazardous waste.
Because of the highly competitive nature of the gold refining business, refiners have been forced to give their customers a very fast turnaround on their gold refining lots. This gives them little to no time to account for the precious metals recovered from any one gold refining lot. Manual systems are labor intensive and very slow.
EGRS gives refineries total accountability on a batch basis for each lot. Accountability issues have been an ongoing challenge for refinery owners. They have even been cited as a significant cause of the recent bankruptcy of Republic Metals, the fifth largest gold refinery in the world. Allegedly, over two hundred million dollars in product was “missing” and not accounted for.
Existing gold refining chemistry is so corrosive that breakable Pyrex® glass must be used for processing gold refining solutions. In the Aqua Regia systems, the gold solution can have a value of up to $60,000 per gallon. In a typical day of processing, they will create over 2,000 gallons of gold chloride solution. If a Pyrex beaker with gold solution were to break it would cause catastrophic losses.
